ACCESS CRE TRAINING TODAY – DEBUNKING EVOLUTION THE NEXT
You really can’t make this stuff up – today we have training for CRE teachers, next week we proudly host the leading lights of “Creation Ministries”.
Have a listen here if you want to see how the foot soldiers of Creationism are made, and sent into your schools:
This is Dr. Johnathan Safarti - who will dazzle the crowd with his obfuscation of science and claims that the bible is an authoritative source of historical and scientific knowledge.
Nice to know that CRE has nothing to do with anti science biblical literalism … eh?

Are we really going to allow CRE teachers to pretend that they understand the origins of life on Earth when the Bible is so obviously full of mistakes ? How can we tolerate allowing children to be so grossly misinformed by these clowns ? The process of education needs to be protected from these demented american fundamentalist wanna-bes.
I can’t believe that this snake oil salesman was caught in the old “2nd law of thermodynamics” canard. (this creationist misrepresentation has been debunked so many times it’s ridiculous) If you want to know more about this charlatan, see here.

I love how he attempts to establish that “kinds” are different to species (organisms exhibiting the ability to produce viable offspring) when even the bible dictates that to be a kind it must be able to “reproduce after its own kind”.
Please Dr Sarfati, explain why there are thousands of endogenous retroviral fragments in exact same positions on the chromosomes of supposedly unrelated organisms. When you map the patterns of these ERVs, you get a match to the phylogentic hierarchy (map of the links between us all which demonstrate common ancestory) predicted by evolutionary theory. Is this God’s little joke to simply make it look as if everything has evolved from a common ancestors?
It’s laughable how he says that natural selection is not a creative force but fails to note that genetic variation (which natural selection works on) is.
It is so scary that this non-biologist is being used as an authority on biology in religious education.
I would recommend any parent to add this link to their favourites,
An index to creationist claims.

This was disgusting and disturbing to watch. An absolute butchering of scientific fact and truth.
Here’s a short documentary on the Ark:

In the future, if my child is exposed to someone like this in school, I will have lost any and all respect for the education system for allowing someone to attempt to poison future generations.
The fact that CRE training and a meeting challenging evolution may have been held at the same venue (months apart) does not suggest that the two are linked in any way. To make this illogical suggestion is disingenuous and does not serve the FIRIS cause. Sensible debate on this issue is important, but this is simply slander-by-association.
yes, there is no chance that the people who do CRE from the church have anything to do with supporting Creation Ministries, or believe that Noah’s Ark was real … no chance at all, totally illogical.
@Scott
Peddle sarcasm if that’s your wish. The facts are that CRE training uses churches as venues: there is not necessarily any direct association between the congregation and the training that takes place. You may even notice in the original post that Werribee as a training venue was “to be confirmed”. I find creationism as distateful and illogical as anyone, but I also don’t think that FIRIS is served in any way by drawing a long bow to relate to events that happen to be held (perhaps) at the same venue. Sounds more like spinning propaganda than engaging in genuine educational (and educated) debate.
I would be perfectly reasonable to believe this if it were not for the fact that we have plenty of examples of ACCESS teachers espousing views that are consistent with the views of creationists. Other than teaching that “god created the plants and animals” I agree that ACCESS’s curriculum does not expand on creationist explanations of biology other than this. You’d be a fool however to believe that there is no relationship between people who teach SRI and the churches who host “Creation Ministries” speakers. In some cases the people who are promoting Creationism are the same people who are using the schools as venues for ministry.
This isn’t a long bow – this is what you call correlation.
