The Anglican Church has among its ranks some of the finest and most considerate people who have ever walked this earth. It also has on its payroll some activists who want to evangelize all the children they possibly can.
Recently the Melbourne Anglicans opened a dialog on that asked:
Religious Education in schools – a Godsend, or an intrusion on the secular state?
The comments from Anglican readers ran overwhelmingly negative … so guess what? No more comments.
The same thing was seen when the Uniting Church opened its web forum to comments:
http://crosslight.org.au/2011/06/01/christian-religious-education-takes-a-secular-beating/
This resulted in a record # of comments on their site, and an overwhelming rebuke from their members against the system, which everyone knows is rigged to make ACCESS Ministries program the “expected default”.
More and more we are seeing this situation where debate and discussion of this topic, even among the readership of church magazines overwhelmingly against the current system.
